Teppanyaki Mihara Goten is on the third floor of Cubus on Hoi Ping Road in Causeway Bay, set behind a sukiyaki restaurant and a cocktail bar. Chef Terufumi Mihara moved the restaurant here from Tseung Kwan O and runs a 14-seat counter. It is part of CSC Collective and is listed in the Michelin Guide.
Mihara calls his approach kappo-style teppanyaki. Seasonal produce flown in from Japan is cooked on the griddle in front of guests, with less familiar teppan dishes alongside seafood and beef. Past courses include Ezo abalone, grilled lobster with hollandaise and thick-cut A5 Kumamoto Wagyu. Lunch sets start at HK$480 and dinner sets at HK$1,780, plus 10% service.
It suits groups and couples who want a lively counter meal on the east side of the island. Book through Bistrochat; a credit card guarantee is needed. Sister venues in the group include Nadagogo, Sukiyaki Nakagawa and Yakiniku Yama Oku.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
