Sushi Oono opened on Mohamed Sultan Road, near Robertson Quay, behind a plain facade with doorbell entry. Chef Keisuke Ohno grew up in a Miyagi port town as a fisherman's son and has more than 20 years in sushi, including a spell at Sushi Mieda in Singapore. His wife Hiromi, a trained sommelier, runs the wine and sake list. The centrepiece is a 300-year-old hinoki counter, and the restaurant entered the Michelin Guide in 2026.
Both lunch and dinner are Edomae omakase, with fish flown in from Japan several times a week; aged fish is a speciality. There are two tasting menus, one built mainly around sushi and the other with more otsumami to go with drinks. Lunch nigiri omakase costs S$220; the card guarantee at dinner is S$330 per guest, which indicates the starting dinner price.
A good pick for diners interested in wine as well as sake with sushi. Book through the website; each guest must order a tasting menu, and late changes or no-shows forfeit the guarantee. Dress is smart casual and strong fragrances are discouraged. Closed on Sundays.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
