Teppei Japanese Restaurant is on the ground floor of Orchid Hotel at Tras Link in Tanjong Pagar, and is one of the restaurants credited with making counter omakase affordable in Singapore. Chef Teppei Yamashita leads the kitchen, and the room has a single counter for up to 12 diners. It remains busy in 2026, with seats released online 60 days ahead.
The Teppei Omakase starts with a run of appetisers that has included foie gras monaka, fresh oyster and firefly squid, followed by sushi and sashimi, a main and dessert. Popular dishes include chutoro and otoro with chives and soy, A5 wagyu tenderloin with yakiniku sauce and sakura ebi claypot rice. The set costs S$100, rising to S$138 in October and December.
The best-value counter in this list and a good first omakase. Book the dinner omakase on Chope; a S$100 per-seat deposit is pre-authorised and is forfeited for changes made after midnight on the day. Debit and prepaid cards are not accepted for the hold. Walk-ins may order à la carte if seats are free. Closed on Sundays.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
