Tree House sits in the grounds of Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, near Mai Khao beach in the north of the island. The resort converted a building beside its heritage banyan tree into a small Japanese omakase room in 2021, with a minimalist interior, a wagasa umbrella light as the centrepiece and views over gardens designed by Bill Bensley.
The Tsuri menu is chef's choice from start to finish. The 8-course version (2,890 baht) runs from a starter such as seabass carpaccio and an appetiser of teriyaki eel to sashimi, nigiri including kinmedai, shima-aji and hara block tuna, a main of king mackerel grilled with saikyo miso, miso soup and dessert of milk tofu and matcha crème brûlée. The 12-course version (3,590 baht) adds more nigiri such as ika, tai and kanpachi. Prices are subject to service and tax, and the dishes change with market supply.
A good evening out for guests staying in the quieter north of Phuket, near the airport. Book through TableCheck or the resort. The bar serves sake and Japanese-style cocktails, and a vegetarian omakase can be arranged.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
