Godenya sits behind a discreet entrance in a narrow alley off Wellington Street, between Central and Sheung Wan. The original Godenya opened in Tokyo in 2011, and the Hong Kong branch followed in 2015. Chef and sake sommelier Shinya Goshima holds one Michelin star and won the guide's Sommelier Award in 2024.
There is one omakase menu of seasonal kappo dishes, mostly made with produce flown in from Japan and changed with each season. Sake is central: each pour is served at its own temperature, including aged and warm sake from small labels. The pairing course costs HK$2,300 (HK$2,100 with half the sake); food alone is HK$1,900, plus 10% service.
This is the place for anyone curious about sake, and it books out months ahead. Service is dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday, with last entry at 7.30pm. Seating is six at the counter, one table of two and a private room for up to eight; book through the restaurant website.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.

Counters are small and book out, so reserve ahead.
