Kappo Rin is a collaboration between Sushi Yoshitake in Tokyo and Sushi Shikon, which sits next door on the seventh floor of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental. Head chef Masaru Furukawa, from Miyagi, trained at Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo and leads an intimate eight-seat counter. The restaurant holds one Michelin star.
The multi-course omakase follows the seasons and mixes raw and cooked dishes, with cooked seafood and beef at its core and rich flavours balanced by unusual condiments. A short business lunch costs HK$1,288 on weekdays, the full lunch omakase HK$2,000 and the ten-course dinner HK$2,500, all plus 10% service. Japanese sake is available to match the food.
It suits diners who want a refined Japanese meal that goes beyond nigiri, and pairs well with Shikon for anyone exploring the group. With only eight seats, book ahead through TableCheck or by phone; the reservations line runs Monday to Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sunday.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
