Kinome opened in late 2025 on the fourth floor of Isetan The Japan Store at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang, in the space that previously housed Nikaku by Azabu. Its name means tree bud. The room is minimalist, built around an open sushi counter, and seats 26 in total.
The format is a casual omakase that follows the seasons, with ingredients arriving weekly from Japan. Menus run from nine courses at RM188 to 18 courses at RM398, each opening with an appetiser or soup and ending with dessert. Press coverage highlights warayaki sashimi seared over rice-straw flames, nigiri of akami, toro, aka ebi and hotate, and handrolls of chopped bluefin with pickled radish. Rice bowls such as chirashi don are also served.
Kinome suits first-timers and shoppers who want a lower-priced counter meal in the city centre. Isetan lists it as pork-free; it serves alcohol and takes private parties. It is open daily for lunch and dinner. Book through the Isetan page or by phone.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.

Counters are small and book out, so reserve ahead.
