Tenmasa is a tempura bar in the annexe of Tower 1, Platinum Park, near KLCC, and describes itself as the first tempura specialist in the city centre. It is run by Curate Group. Chefs fry in front of guests at a 10-seat counter, and two tables seat a further eight for semi-private meals.
Produce is air-flown from Japanese markets about every two days and the menu follows the Japanese seasons. Seafood and vegetables are battered to order and fried in a blend of sesame and rice bran oil. The signature is Hokkaido uni on a tempura shiso leaf; other options include wagyu with cheese and shirako with caviar. The lunch course costs RM268, the dinner Omakase RM398 and the Chef's Special Omakase RM688, per the published menu.
Tenmasa suits diners who want a tempura-only omakase at a mid-range price. Book in advance through the online system, as the counter is small. It is open Monday to Saturday.
Menus, prices and seatings change and many counters book out, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
